Burbank Ranch in Templeton

Burbank Ranch is a family-owned and operated vineyard located in the Paso Robles American Viticulture Appellation (AVA), in the El Pomar area of Templeton, CA. Following daily warm temperatures, the Ranch is cooled nightly by Pacific Ocean breezes flowing through the Templeton Gap. These temperature swings are perfect for raising premium wine grapes.

The 83 acre ranch was planted to 44.5 acres of wine grapes in 2008 based on site and the Burbank's tastes.  After extensive soil sampling, the chosen 44.5 acres were planted to grape varietals using sustainable vineyard practices.  The varietals include the Bordeaux reds (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec) and Sauvignon Blanc, Rhone reds (Syrah, Petite Sirah, Grenache, and Mourvedre) and Grenache Blanc, and the Burbank personal favorites, Sangiovese, Arneis (Italian), and Tempranillo, Albariño (Spanish). And finally, how can you be in Paso and not grow Zinfandel!

Owners Fred and Melody Burbank separate a small amount of their crop each year to showcase the varietal's singular expression.  With their very first vintage, 2010, the Burbank Ranch Cabernet Franc won “Best In Class” in both the 2012 & 2013 Central Coast Wine Competition.  The Competition provided an opportunity for the California Mid-State Fair, the Monterey County Fair, the San Benito County Fair, the Santa Barbara County Fair, and the Ventura County Fair to recognize their local wine industries. Over 650 Central Coast Wines were judged in the largest evaluation event ever, for wines produced exclusively in the Central Coast.  Additionally, the 2010 Cabernet Franc won a double gold in the San Francisco Chronicle International Wine Competition.
